Purchasing department
Purchasing structure
The centralized purchasing department for the SIAG group is located at the Dernbach headquarters.
Wind energy technology purchasing for Leipzig, Finsterwalde, Le Creusot, Chrudim and Kostany is also managed from Dernbach.
Purchasing for steel, silo and plant construction for the Ruhland and Berunice locations is based at Ruhland.
Departmental cooperation across business units and teamworking between purchasing and other functions means that we are able to achieve an optimal balance between functionality, delivery reliability and price. Our first priority remains the achievement of our quality objectives.
Centralized purchasing
The purchasing departments for wind energy and steel construction, which act centrally for all locations, work closely with the centralized purchasing department so as to develop sourcing synergies and achieve best possible results.
All subsidiaries constantly pool information, which enables us to maximize our efficiency when sourcing internationally from countries such as Korea, India, European countries and the USA. Centralization allows us to combine purchases, increasing volumes and thereby obtain improved terms and conditions.
Steel products for wind energy technology alone account for orders in excess of 100,000 tons.
Decentralized purchasing departments
We also have on-site purchasing staff at our various locations who are close to production and take advantage of national and local markets to ensure a rapid fulfilment of orders and efficient supply logistics.
Purchased products
The sourcing of production materials is focused around steel sheet and steel construction components, flanges, flashings, flat steel products, flame-cut parts, corrosion protection, welding materials, electric components, aluminium components and climbing equipment.
Consumables, capital goods and services account for a smaller but increasingly important proportion so they are dealt with by the purchasing department using the same processes.
Supplier requirements
Suppliers to the SIAG group ideally offer high quality products and competitive, technically sophisticated services at market prices. We expect our suppliers to contribute actively to the development of new products at an early stage. We also require complete dependability and punctual delivery in line with our specifications.
Our suppliers must be committed to continuous improvement in all areas and make cooperative, cutting-edge contributions to SIAG's projects, in particular in the areas of quality, logistics, technology and commercial aspects.
It is our policy to set up long-term agreements of mutual benefit to all parties involved and to provide clear instructions in line with the actual job requirements.
