Egypt in the focus of middle Africa on March 16th 2010

Rollout of the first tower of SIAG Elsewedy Towers S.A.E.

Dernbach, March 22nd 2010 – In a moving ceremony, more than 200 international guests celebrated the rollout of the first tower at the production site in Ain Sukhna on March 16th 2010.

“One year ago we had neither water, electricity, gas nor road. Today here is one of the most modern production sites for steel tubular towers located, that is able to keep up with other locations in Europe and also exceed the market requirements distinctly. Here in Ain Sokhna we are able to produce towers with high technical perfection under quality assurance according to German standard. And I am really proud of it.“ said Rüdiger Schaaf.

Apart from other top-class guests, the Ambassador Michael Bock as well as Egypt Representatives - General Seif Galal, Suez Governor and Rasheed Mohammed Rasheed, Minister for Trade and Industry and Dr. Hassan Younes, Minister for Electricity were fascinated and favorably impressed by the German-Egypt joint project.

German technologies, Know-How and quality standards bundled with the knowledge of local conditions and regularities on site have led to success obviously. Today it is a pleasure solemnizing the production of the first tower here in Egypt.” said Ambassador Michael Bock

 
First tower leaves production hall
The guests were looking forward to the tower transport outside of the production hall jointly. On this day no different religions and nationalities were present, but rather foregrounded cooperation and pleasure about the common success.

SIAG Elsewedy Towers S.A.E. will produce 100 towers for the North and East-African area, Mediterranean region as well as the Middle East in the start-up phase in 2010. On production at full capacity it will be possible to produce 300 towers per year on site.

The wind energy sector is one of the fastest growing industries worldwide. The conversion to alternative energy resources will be more important and more necessary. Up to 2020 Egypt plans extending the current installed power of 550 MW wind energy to 7.200 MW.
