SIAG Engineering GmbH achieves productive start for steel construction at CAD/PDM implementation

Dernbach, 20th April 2011 - SIAG Engineering GmbH, Emden (SEE) successfully completed the productive start of the CAD system for steel construction in April 2011. Herewith the first major milestone of the CAD launch planning has been reached.

SIAG Engineering GmbH is located at the SIAG Nordseewerke in Emden u
and is an affiliate of SIAG Schaaf Industrie AG. The foundation in 2009 aimed to build up an independent centre for design and engineering services within SIAG Group which especially conceives, visualizes and designs offshore projects. Beside their offshore activities the employees under the management of the Managing Director Axel Kaiser deal with developments in high technological steel construction and wind energy technology within the country. SIAG Engineering GmbH employs 15 highly qualified employees and engineers and some of them hava a maritime background.

In December 2010 the contract for the procurement of the CAD software HiCAD and the PDM software HELiOS has been concluded with the company ISD Software und Systeme GmbH located in Dortmund. The contract includes the equipment of SEE with latest engineering solutions for the fields of steel construction, industrial engineering as well as equipment. Therefore engineering projects for foundation structures and substations can be handled successfully. 

Even during the software selection the attention was particularly paid on enabling lean processes for the linking of engineering with the fields of production and procurement. The strengths of the PDM-System HELiOS is – beside the definition of internal engineering processes – the interface to SAP which enables that the essential construction work is not affected by activities not related to the real tasks.
 
In the first quarter 2011 SIAG Engineering GmbH successfully implemented the CAD/PDM system under the project management of Mr. Feeko Harders and by the support of the company ISD with Mr. Arnd Paulfeuerborn as well as  the high personal commitment of the employees of both companies.
